Infrared sensors replace the push buttons to avoid forces and strain on fingers.

A key stroke of this touchless keyboard is triggered when a finger tip, a pencil head, or any stick is placed in the cell to block the infrared beams crossing in the cell. There is no need to touch anything for triggering a key stroke, but a tactile feedback is naturally received when the finger touches the wall of the cell, or the bottom within the wall of a height of 2 milimeters. The walls prevent unintended triggering from moving fingers or even fat fingers. The forces on the fingers of pushing the buttons are avoided, and touches are unnecessary for this touchless keyboard. Even a hand with injured fingers can use a pencil to operate this keyboard fairly easily and fast.

Small size avoids the stress on wrists, shoulders, and the chest.

The size of ths touchless keyboard is about that of one hand. It is better suited to be operated by one hand,or one hand each keyboard for better performance. Thin and small, the keyboard can be placed more freely at a comfortable position, and yet easy to change and avoid the stresses on wrist, shoulder, back and chest from fixed static posture as is required by a full sized keyboard.

The gain of speed is mainly from 2 aspects of this touchless keyboard. One is that the time and effort of pushing down a key button is saved on every key stroke. Over a long run, a lot of time and work are saved on the key strokes. Another is that the fingers move a shorter distance to hit the next key due to the smaller size of keys. With the option of using the both hands to operate 2 keyboards, all 10 fingers can be put in use with each finger to control a smaller area of keys. And this higher speed can be achived with less squeez on the chest and less stress on the back.

However, none of our team members is a touch-typest or need a high typing speed. Most of us would use a pencil to operate the keyboard. We welcome user feedbacks on the highest speed they can achieve with our keyboards.
