Sunnyvale, CA, USA - June 30, 2006 - LightIO today announced the availability of its first optical interface product, a light beam operated keyboard with the model name Mango-I. Mango-I is a black box of 7.5 inches long, 4.5 inches wide and 0.75 inches thick. Characters and symbols are printed in a circular form on one surface. This model has a PS/2 connector to connect to a PC's outlet. Also in the package is a penlight that emits a white light beam. A user can easily hold this module in hand or let it stand or lie on a surface and move the penlight on the panel to enter data.

"This is the first step towards RSI free computing." Said Yong Yan, the inventor and president of LightIO technologies. "While we had to make big changes to the initial design to lower the cost, but I'm glad that most of the features came out good enough for the purpose of avoiding the pain of data entry."

Like most of the electronic products today, this product is also made in China to lower the cost of manufacturing. It is priced at $189.99 per package for online sales. "We try our best to make it as cheap as possible to target the largest customer base who are in pain using computers." Said Yan. How about the learning curve? "The user can become productive within 2 minutes while it may take some time to become proficient. The input speed can be faster than hand writing or scripting from beginning. In a few days, the input speed is on the same magnitude for an ordinary user. But a skilled touch-typest may see her speed lowered to 50% or even 30%." Said Yan.

This product is on a limited release now and the general public can buy it through online stores like amazon.com in a few days.
